These fields of medical research are outlined in the statutes of the Cure for Cancer Foundation, ensuring that funds are allocated responsibly and effectively for this vital work.

Last week Cure for Cancer organized a special presentation at the Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk. The event was led by chairman Prof. Dr. Harrie Beerlage MD PhD FEBU and board member Dr. Patricia Zondervan. Onze zes toegewijde onderzoekers – Katelijne de Bie, Rosemarijn Ettema, Hugo Schuil, Orlane Figaroa, Luna van den Brink and Marinka Remmelink – presented the groundbreaking research they conduct, made possible by the generosity of our donors.
The event offered our donors a unique opportunity to hear directly from researchers about how they are contributing to research into kidney cancer, bladder cancer, prostate cancer and upper urinary tract tumors.
The day ended with a wonderful walking dinner, where guests had ample opportunity to have meaningful conversations and make new contacts.
We are incredibly proud of the progress we are making and incredibly grateful to everyone who supports Cure for Cancer. Your support allows us to continue this important work. Together we are improving lives through research.
Our dedicated researchers, Katelijne de Bie, Rosemarijn Ettema, Luna van den Brink, Marinka Remmelink, and Orlane Figaroa, presented their findings at the European Multidisciplinary Congress on Urological Cancers (EMUC24) in Lisbon last week.
This unique interdisciplinary event brought together leading experts in oncology, urology, pathology, and radiology to discuss the latest advancements in genito-urinary cancer treatment. Our researchers proudly contributed to this important dialogue, sharing insights that support progress in kidney, bladder, prostate, and upper tract urothelial cancer research.
From practical workshops to in-depth lectures, EMUC24 serves as a vital platform for innovation, gathering diverse expertise to explore best practices and emerging therapies in GU cancer care.
Let’s congratulate Katelijne, Rosemarijn, Luna, Marinka, and Orlane for their commitment to advancing cancer research and improving lives!

Last weekend, our researchers did Hugo Schuil and Orlane Figaroa, together with their colleagues Daniël van den Kroonenberg, Bram van Bruggen and Joost Slagt taking part in the Dam tot Damloop for Cure for Cancer.
With their participation, they worked to raise money for kidney, prostate and bladder research.
We are extremely proud of our researchers for their commitment and achievement!
Thanks to the generosity of our guests, sponsors and the fantastic team behind the scenes, we raised €959,000 on gala night. More than €970,000 has now been received; that means almost €1 million for our researchers!
Many thanks to everyone who made this evening so special.
To the musical accompaniment of the Ascot Trio and the Flamingos, the guests were welcomed with Philipponnat champagne. Doortje van Herwaarde created a frame, with a painting by her father George van Herwaarde in the background, in which our guests could be photographed. The photographs were taken by Anko Stoffels en Guus J.Baks.
The evening opened with a rendition of Piaf's ‘Non je ne regrette rien’ by Suzan Seegers. Followed by Victor Mids, illusionist and doctor, with his neuromagic. During his act, he changed chairman Theo M. de Reijke with new chairman Harrie Beerlage. Estonian pianist Tarmo Vesterbohm provided background music during the dinner. Cure for Cancer ambassador Karin Bloemen presented the evening and sang special Cure for Cancer lyrics to a hit song by Adele. The excellent band Sonny's Inc provided the music to which guests danced exuberantly throughout the evening. Legends of soul, Bryan B and Berget Lewis completed the evening.
The lighting and sound in the venue was created by John Veerman van Fa. Heuvelman. Monique Winkel was responsible for directing the evening.
Auctioneer Laurien Schreuder managed to secure large bids, supported by notary Alexander van Limburg Stirum and treasurer Marcel van den Heuvel of the Cure for Cancer foundation.
Our great thanks also go to Stephan and Marianne Stokkermans from Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin, and the team led by Anouk Jahshan, Rick Spermon, Riepke Bouwman. The exquisite menu was presented by chef Werner Drent and Gosia Nychowska of the banqueting department.
